This site was created as a medium through which to write about my experiences as a PeaceCorps Volunteer serving in The Gambia, West Africa until Dec '08. My work in Gambia involves using AgroForestry techniques to help alleviate the poverty of local farmers while also protecting the local environment from the demands of an already burgeoning population. In terms of my larger life goals, The Gambia is just one small stop on what will hopefully be a life-long journey of learning and adventure.

just had got the chance to read all the posts to date as I'm laid-up for the evening after losing control on some ice and smashing into a chairlift pole earlier today. sounds like you've been met with some decent resistance thus far with your health but have also had some rewarding experiences. will be checking regularly so keep posting. I was in Dongoroba about 1 hour East of Soma on the SB, LRD. COS'd about a year ago.
Good reading your exploits, especially about John Jabang (next time you see him call him a crocodile - or nooda (rhymes with Yoda- croc in Pulaar)) driving like a maniac.
